OCI status and processing

Hi all,

My OCI process is now well underway and I was very excited to get an online status last week. Here is what appears so far:

Photo/Signature Scanned On 28-SEP-2010
Registration Status Granted On 28-SEP-2010
Documents Printing Status NOT PRINTED
Documents Dispatched NOT DISPATCHED

What is worrying me is that I read somewhere that if the OCI card is not printed within a week of the OCI status being granted, it may mean they had problems with the photo. However, photo/signature appear as scanned, which should indicate that they were able to process them.

Does anyone know anything about this? And what should I do? Just wait?

Patience. If there was a problem, the SCANNED status would not have a date on it.

Thanks for this.. it is kind of what I assumed, because the scanning seemed to have gone through, but just wanted to make sure.

For NYC consulate, it has been a few days short of the 30 day window between acknowledgement and arrival at the consulate.

Do update when it finally reaches the Embassy/Consulate

I will update. I applied through Geneva though, so not sure if that will be useful to many people.

Hi, I recently applied for OCI card. ekatarina's experience would be useful for me as I am in Switzerland as well. Can you please tell me how long it took for the card to arrive at the consulate in Geneva after it was printed. And, what documents need to be sent once the card arrives to get the visa sticker on the passport? thanks!

A Swiss(or whatever nationality) passport with atleast two blank visa pages. This was ofcourse true of NY Consulate.

Note regarding addl photos: The consulate officer was kind enough to call up and ask to send 2 additional photos instead of summarily rejecting the application and sending it back! In addition to the 2 photos on the application forms, two separate photos need to be sent. I overlooked that in the instructions sheet.

Hi, With an information status objection, it is rather difficult to say what went wrong. It could be anything from incomplete filling of the forms to non-receipt of requisite fees to non-conformant photo(s). Most probably it is the latter. The 2'' x 2'' requirement is a real pain. I suggest you contact the service center or the embassy where you submitted your app to clarify the issue.

No idea why. Did you follow the requirements and submit the relevant documents ? Or rather, what documents did you submit to make a case for an OCI ?

I posted all the requested documents. My local Consulate sent me a receipt to confirm the documents.

I sent the OCI Application
1. an Affdavit,
2. Indian Birth Certificate
3. Copy of Indian passport (expired)
4. Copy of British Passport
5. Photographs.

I sent two copies of everything.
