OCI Required Documents Question
OCI Required Documents Question
I'm looking to apply for an OCI card (parents were both born in India but are now US citizens, I was born in the US), but, unfortunately, my parents do not have their Indian passports (or surrender certificates). Can I apply for an OCI card with my dad's birth certificate and both of their naturalization certificates? They don't know their Indian passport numbers, so I don't think they can file Affidavits of Loss.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Reason: spelling error
Unfortunately, with the recent outsourcing of OCI/PIO to VFS; Most processes and requirements that were held valid, are out the door - You should look at immihelp.com which has more data points than here.
Alternatively http://forums.immigration.com/forumd...a-(OCI)-Issues has a forum on OCI related issues.

Make sure you have the surrender certificate and affidavits of loss application forms filled in, the affidavits application should be notarized. Then you are in business, trivisa needs duplicate copies though. Hope this helps. @Doaba,
Read the information at this link: http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/oci-chart.pdf
More specifically, it actually helps if you say in which country you are resident, and which citizenship you hold.

DrRudi - Thank you very much for the response - I have dual - British/Canadian? Would that cause any implications to obtain an OCI for myself in Canada? Where can I find out the procedure/processing fee/time frame....

this should answer your questions abut oci in canada,
by all means get the OCI if you are eligible.
It is far better than PIO.

@ Doaba,
The Indian government recently tendered its consular processing services to this company:

Good luck.
