OCI for British Citizen of Indian origin

Hi,
I am a british citizen of Indian origin, currently living in Toronto, Canada. I obtained the British citizen by birth and lived in India with my parents. I never had an Indian passport, and obtained visas while living in India. I moved to canada a decade ago and am interested in getting the OCI. My dad has an indian passport, while my mom has a British passport. So my question is:
1) Can I get the OCI?
2) If yes, what papers would they need to prove my indian origin. I guess they would need something from my Dad, who is still living in India.
I cant seem to get hold of anyone at the Indian Consulate in Toronto and need confirmed information regarding the required documents for OCI application.

Check consular web pages, they have all the information, and it's reliable (what you would get here may not be).

The Ministry of Home Affairs Foreigner's Division Pages will give you all the information you can desire.

I'd say... Yes, you can certainly get OCI and with your dad having an Indian passport it should be an easy rubber-stamp job.

If you can, I think you should visit the consulate. My guess is that a certified copy of your dad's passport would do nicely --- but RPG is correct, we are not lawyers here, and the info from the horses mouth will be better.
