Obtaining Visa in Paris (non French citizen)

Myself and my partner are about to embark on a 12 month round the world trip and will have to to obtain our visa's for India whilst we are on our travels.

I am an Australian citizen and my partner is a New Zealand citizen.

We are hoping that we will be able to obtain our Visa whilst we are in Paris, however we are only in Paris for 5 days, is it a longer processing time for the visa if we are not citizens of France or can we just turn up pay the extra 30 Euros or whatever it is and get it done the same day?

Any info anyone can provide me will be greatly appreciated!

I was just answering another question about France; suggest checking with http://www.amb-inde.fr/. Looks like a decent and straightforward site alright.

Here in Bangkok, it is a 5 day process. In Monday, out Friday. I didn't see any way to speed it up. Plan on this being the norm.
