Obtaining India 6 month Tourist Visa in Thailand

Can anyone shead any light on obtaining a 6 month Tourist Visa from either the Indian Embassy in Bangkok or the Consulate in Chiang Mai.

Here is the problem:

I have been trying to get the Embassy website for over two weeks but all I get is "page will not display". They do not answer their phone or reply to emails.

The Consulate in Chiang Mai states the following on their website...

"applications from foreign nationals who are not resident in consular jurisdiction will be referred to the countries of origin"

.... now although I do live in their consular jurisdiction, I am not an Official Resident of Thailand. Once again, nobody to answer the phone or reply to emails.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has obtained a visa from either the Bangkok Embassy or Chiang Rai Consulate.

Thank you!

It is usual, if you apply at an embassy outside your country of residence, for the embassy at which you apply to refer the application back to your own country. I guess the only way you are going to find out for sure is by applying.

hey there,

I am not thai but had no problems getting an indian visa from the embassy in bangkok in april this year. In the case of non-nationals they send a fax back to the indian embassy in your country of origin to check with them that its ok to give you a visa. It just takes about 5 days for this all to be processed. If you do a search you will find various posts on getting visas in thailand, but it should be fine. Hope it all goes ok.

Thanks for replies

Seems there is no problem with either Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Thanks!

my thai girlfriend was only issued a 3 month tourist visa when she applied in April from Bangkok.

And I was only able to get a 1-year employment visa with an American passport (they give 10-years in San Francisco)....but I had been working in Bangkok and had the proper documentation to show residency in Thailand.
