New Passport Middle name Initial Problem
hello ppl,
I want to apply for a new passport where my name is BHAVIN M VORA and it has been since birth and is the name in all my certificates. But the problem is that passport office does not allow the middle name 'M'. Now since it has not been expanded in any of my certificates what should be the solution to make a passport with name BHAVIN M VORA plz help. |

Choose a nice middle name that starts with an M.*
*this is, of course a completely unqualified reply. You could also try to visit the office when someone else is on duty. Or wait until someone more informed answers your question.

What was the M supposed to stand for originally....or that does not really help- because if you school certificates dont have the expanded M either then the passport office will not recognize that name either...?

the M is most likely the initial of his fathers name. Instead of writing the fathers full first name as his middle name he has used the initial only. A fairly common custom. |

Please clarify. Is "M" actually your middle name?
If this is the case and it IS your actual name, it is difficult to understand why you cannot have a passport in that name. I suggest you contact the passport office again and explain that it is NOT an initial, it is a one letter name. |

The passport folks are not doing their job correctly
I doubt there is anything which legally prevents you from having one letter for your middle name. I am sure if you wanted you could call yourself ABC DEF (well I can in the UK) and get a passport issued as such. It is not their job to question you about your name but to issue a passport. Too many times these passport wale come out with b/s. Some of my cousins were told to use thumb prints even though they could sign their names by some chap in the passport office. Ask them to give it to you in writing that you cannot have a passport with M as your middle name and the legal reason behind this. |
