for both the temporary and permanent address - write the kollam address... no problems there.
bombay cannot be listed as your temporary address as you have to be at that place for 12 months +. besides, rent agreement is not a proof of address. you will have to apply for renewal from the kollam RPO. police verification happens anywhere between a week to 10 days after you have submitted the application. you will HAVE to hang around the kollam home - if you're not there when the cops come, there will be complications. this is my suggestion... the renewal passport form is the same as the application form for a first time passport. get one - photocopy it... i think you can download the form online. fill it in. go to an agent/s in bombay - and ask them, if the police does verify, if the address does not change. get more than two say so's. this verification thingee is dicey alex - google / rpo enquiry / whatever it takes... find out. ECNR is a simpler procedure - attach an attested copy of your class X certificate, and write YES in the query of " ECNR required ? " once you get the form, you'll get a clearer picture of what is required and what is not. :brishti |

nayan wrote - if info remains same as the expired passport - verification does not generally happen, as far as she knows. i have my doubts - i think verification does happen irrelevant. all these posts are about that. whether verification will happen or not. nah - you cannot tell the police you got to go or any crap like that... sheesh. you're supposed to be living there for chrissakes. please understand alex - this is an address verification cop search... common sense will dictate, how can you not be there ? this is not an office where you say 'yo dude - not today, tomorrow please.' uuffff. write down kollam address - explain the situation to them, and ask whether verification will happen at kollam or not. to be absolutely positive - ask more than one agent. best is... if you can walk upto the rpo and enquire personally... whether verification happens if address does not change. for chrissakes - DO NOT TELL anybody at RPO, you do not live there. common sense alex - use the frickin sense. you will have to put down your phone number - which i am presuming is a bombay number. sometimes, the cops call before they visit. tell all this to the agent/s. since you have a form already - just photocopy it - use it as a draft and go ask around. hopefully, all will be sorted out. bas, i'm done with this thread. ta-ta bye-bye. :brishti |

The passport recieved through tatkal is valid for 10 years. ajo_Alex, have you read the passport office website that I and Brishti have suggested. It should clear most of your doubts about ECNR/forms etc. As you are not at all clear about the process I would suggest you contact a good passport agent. They will be able to tell you the ways and means(of course for payment ). |
