Name Correction

Hai,

My Name Sivaji Ganesh.B
Upto my 10th standard i used to write my name as Sivagi Ganesh.B and from +1, i started writing it as Sivaji Ganesh.B. I have applied my passport based on my 10th standard certificate. After my 10th std all the bank accounts, pay slips and the applications are in the new name. But my passport has the old name. Please guide me how to proceed further.

whether i need to change my name in 10th std certificate first and then apply for change in name in the passport (or) can i directly apply for name change in passport by showing the degree certificates.

Please let me know how to proceed

There are documentation anomalies in my case, an "h" missing on my birth certificate - I won't state my first name, but as an example, my name is spelt just about everywhere as sHivaji, but the birth certificate say sivaji; and the anomaly in my wife's case is that a "g" is used in an earlier document instead of a "j".

We've just winged it all of our lives and in our interactions with bureaucracy, so far without any issues.

My speculation is that bureaucrats are pretty sensible and so long as the anomaly makes sense, as it does in our and your case, and there's no switching to and fro but a pattern where a single spelling dominates your documents, then no hassles.

But you mileage may vary. Let's hope not but let us know !
