Never to worry, it doesn't change the question though.

I realize now I think I was getting myself confused though: Those three (or two) months at a time that I refer to had to do with proposed visas-on-arrival for some nationalities I think, not with extended visas (?).

So those five-year visas are new to me, may be some German thing? Sorry for the confusion, and maybe even now I'm still getting some things mixed up.

No it was not a German thing. Indeed I found the information on this matter on the internet in November 2006, where sixteen countries including Germany was mentioned. The reason why I remember Germany is obviously since I am German. Right now I cannot find this link again since I am in a hyper expansive cyber cafe in Singapore, but when I am back, I will search for this link.
I myself had two five year tourist visas issued in Germany. When I was in Kathmandu in May 2007, I would have gotten such five year visa again, but the officer in Kathmandu told me that I would have to wait another 25 days. It was my great blunder that I had not enough money with me to spend this much in Nepal.
But as I wrote in this thread before, the officer told me not to come to Nepal again for getting any India visa, so I understood that they won't give such visa not more than twice in a row.

I am considering a visa renewal in Nepal at present, but having heard and read about the problems getting 6 month extensions, I am considering going back to UK and doing it there. Was wondering, I've now had two 6 month visa in a row, the first was issued in the States, the second in UK (Holder of a UK passport). If I do go for the 3 month extension in Nepal will having had two 6 month visas in a row prevent my chances of getting the extension? (Would be my first trip to Nepal)

Visa Renewal

Not sure on Nepal, but almost certain in Bangkok, for at least a 3 month visa.
Personaly i would ask for a 6 month.
Cheaper to go to Bangkok than the UK, and more fun.
Thx.

I have also heard of Brits getting a 5 year visa in Nepal, this may involve giving a large PRESENT!!, but worth asking.

Then why don't you give it a go and let us know how you get on? You've been posting similar suggestions here for quite a while now.

I think if your current visa is issued from your home country and you have not been to Kathmandu to re-new your visa before you will not have any problems in getting a new six month tourist visa.

Thanks for the replys.
From reading this thread it seems that a number of tourists are only getting 3 month extensions...
If I was to be denied a visa in Nepal for any reason, or could only receive 3 months after an application for 6, would this affect my chances of getting a visa for India in another country? Thanks again.

Visas

No im sure, if they only give you a 3 month visa,
this will not effect your chances in the future.
I have heard of friends of mine, only getting 3 months,
but these friends were trying there second visa, back to back
in Nepal.
Other friends got a 6 months there.
Let me know how you get on please.

I'll chime in with Mickey though: This tells us precisely nothing.

This thread I think tries to bring facts together; not to add to the further I-heard-it-through-the-grapevines vine.

So, er, let us know by all means what you found first-hand upon trying it.

ps

I thought this was a very relevant and decent question, that I have no answer to. Anyone else?

You'd think all those embassies would be inter-connected. You might hope they are not. Nor, and more importantly, if they would take a refusal in one place to be a refusal from anywhere else. I really just don't know.

Mod note: Dont go down the same road as the other thread you started, please. Last time the thread was closed. This time it may not be

I'm leaving for China in two plus weeks. Despite timing problems, like having to prove air tickets and hotel reservations for the Chinees visa, I thought I'd have ample time to go for an Indian visa, should I wish to return via for example Lumbini to Delhi. No go. High season. Instead of the normal 4-5 days, I should have applied at least 25 days in advance. If October means Kathmandu and India, I'll let you know what happened.

Until then, then.
