Question Lost Yellow Fever certificate

Have you ever been asked for your Yellow Fever certificate when coming in from a Yellow Fever affected country (Brazil, for e.g.)?
I seem to have lost mine.
Do I need to get the shot once more? I am needle-phobic and would like to avoid it if it is not a big deal.
I will be flying into Bombay (from Saõ Paulo), if that makes any difference.

Hi, I flew into Mumbai from South Africa (apparently a yellow fever zone), had the shots and got the certificate but can't recall anyone on our entire flight being asked to produce a certificate.

Dunno if this helps...

Thanks, I asked a couple of colleagues who recently travelled to India, and they were not asked either. So I think I am going to risk it.
Does anybody know whether there is a procedure to get a duplicate certificate without actually getting revaccinated?
Maybe I should lug myself to the port and ask at the vaccination center itself.

Follow-up: I did lug myself to the port and get a duplicate. It cost me around 5 USD. I was told that vaccination centres are required to keep records for 10 years, but you can get a duplicate only at the centre where you got vaccinated.
I was lucky I did this, I was actually asked for it at Mumbai. I am not sure what would have happened if I did not have the certificate. Probably nothing a baksheesh would not cure.

It is my understanding (which doesn't mean much) that if any vaccinations are required to visit a country, you need to provide proof in order to get your visa.

Oh, I wasn't visiting, I am an Indian citizen. I was visiting Uruguay & Brazil; they didn't seem to care about the vaccinations.

I think (again) that if you visit a country that requires proof of vaccination, then you might need to show proof when you return from that country; ie a number of countries in West/South Africa. Brazil and Uruguay shouldn't be a problem - at least I didn't have any trouble returning to the US from Brazil last year without vaccinations.
