Really ? It it aint stapled to your new one, and there has been no active visas in the old passport, all you need is an active/current passport.

The only reason I could see for people to say this is if they presume you had some legthy term visa. Otherwise I have never been asked and couldn't find my old junk in a month of searching..

+1 to edward. I was never asked either.

Of course, that I had the scans with me was useful by itself!

Hi,

Yes there is no visa on it.It was a fresh passport that i had to cancel due to the name change. It is not stapled to new one.
They just canceled and returned to me.
I was confused as they had put details of old passport at the end of My new passport like old passport no.,date of issue etc...

Thanks

That has no bearing to your current travel. Never change one's name and identity in haste for deity or human rituals in future

No wonder my wife says I improve with some Old Monk Rum. Wait a minute, I wonder if that means if she takes the rum...
