Long term visa/residence permit question

I am buying some land in Goa to build a house, in order to complete the purchase I have formed a private limited Indian company.
What would be the best way of getting a residence permit or a five year visa? I assume I could get a one year business visa but this does not allow stays longer than four months at a time.

I was readin that site and it's a little confusing. The missions are obviously embassies and I didn't expect to find one for Ireland, but at least thought there would be a UK one there, but there's not. So do I have to apply to germany (that'd be the nearest mission to me?) for a 6 month tourist visa, cos if so that'd be a pain in the ass.

I'm continuing to search for info on visas and it appears to me that it's down to the discretion of the issuing office/officer. I just can't find any hard and fast rules.Keep searching.........

well generally it is always at the discretion of the issuing authority thats what i have always experinced in most consulates, even if u follow the rules, anyhow from what i have seen with regard to friends of mine who have come down they all have got 6 months tourist visa and in most cases if you apply thats what u will get also unless there r some serious issues with regard to your application.
