London Postal Application for Visas

Has anyone experience of using the postal application service for Visas from London?

I have always gone in person (being a cautious type !). But I can't really afford th e time to go in person this time.

I travel on 25th October this year and am tempted by the postal application process . Unless anyone knows different .........................[color=darkblue]

Don't have any personal experience re: applying for visa from London, but there was a comment on the Thorn Tree a while back indicating that10 days to a couple of weeks might be required. This would only be a problem if you wanted to use a 6 month visa to the limit as visas are effective from date of issue. I notice in another thread that you will only be staying a few weeks so I guess this isn't a consideration. I checked the Consulate's web site to see if there was an appropriate short-term visa, but apparently not. I was also curious if the rumours of visa-free travel to India were immanent (not according to web page.

Personally, I hate entrusting my passport to the post office (but that's a Canadian thing), especially at the last minute. If you do proceed, might as well give yourself lots of time. BTW, the web pages in question are at:
