You could start here, and also check out all the other recent threads in this section with London or Birmingham in their titles.

But... take my advice... google for Mustard Oil --- you'll have much more fun reading the results!

Sorry guys.. I've not been around and this must have all gone over my head..

Maybe this should be switched to the "It could only happen in India" section !

Let's hope sanity resumes..

Still, getting out of the Embassy nearer lunch time allows you to head straight for the Strand Continental Hotel for a suitably ambient curry

Laanisa, yes you can. If you are normally resident in UK you may get same-day service (better take some proof) otherwise they will refer to your home country and it may take a week.

I thought I'd update a little as I saw my physio yesterday whose son went for a visa in London on Monday - apparently he arrived at 6am and was number 200 in the queue.. By 8am 'many hundreds' were waiting..

I can't verify this 100%, but sounds like maybe not all is quite so back to normal.. ?

I wonder if the very early morning queue is because the scare lingers on?

Thank you.
I'm planning on heading off to get mine in person from London in the early hours tomorrow, aiming to get there between 5 & 6. Will post up what happens.

they are now issuing more then 1500 q-cards
they are trying to see as many as they can per day
that's worse than the worst electricity bill queues that i have ever been in India itself :O

Arrived there today (well, yesterday now to be precise) at 5:45 a.m. and there was somewhere in the region of 30 to 40 people in front of me, and I don't know how many hundreds after. Lots.
I had my passport back, replete with visa by 9:20 so all I can say is get there as early as you can.

Just let you guys know I posted my Visa application on Friday 16th November (late afternoon) and it arrived 29th November, so 9 working days.

...just a normal tourist visa etc

So if you've got enough spare time, post your application and have a lie in on these cold winter mornings!

All together for 2 visa's it came to about £74 (£60 for Visas + £14 for Special delivery and charge for the postal order)

Visa queue -London

Arrived at the Consulate at 06:10 today (cold and wet) I was number 57 in the queue. By 6:30 there were in the region of 200 -300 people behind me.
I was at the counter by 09.00 and had my passport back by 09:30.
The queue when I came out was approx 300 metres long, hundreds of people.
Get there early folks.
