Went to my local travel agent this morning with the intention of booking a one-way scheduled flight into Mumbai and on to Dabolim. The reason for wanting a scheduled is that there have been some rumours/reports that people arriving on charters are overstamped (is that a word?) with a 1 month stay on their 6 month multiple visa. I want to stay longer than that. They then queried whether one-way was OK in the visa application. I said I hadn't seen any reference to types of flight or heard anything on the travel forums to the contrary. The agent held me an Air India into Mumbai while waiting for an onward confirmation to Dabolim(£425incl tax). Meanwhile, I asked her to try and find out from a visa company they use. Surprise
,they weren't sure but reckoned it's up to the immigration or even the airline before you leave. Later she phoned me with concerns about this ticket, and thought I should have a return to be safe(more money I thought ) However she had found a Monarch charter return for the next day, one seat left in Premium class for £338 incl tax. I couldn't resist it So I'll risk the 1 month stamp. If I have to leave and re-enter after a month then I've probably still saved money, I hope and hopefully I've had a more comfortable flight. We'll find out in a week's time ![]()

Got my visa this morning.
Arrived 7.50. They opened 8.30. I was number 46. Processed at 9 o'clock and they said pick up the passport in 1 hour. I returned after 50mins and people waiting told me they'd heard my number called already. Had to wait another half hour 'til they brought out the next batch. I tried to get a 12month but the lady said they only issue 6 months. I just said OK. So a 6month it is. Worth a try Still got to find some accommodation though. ![]() |

I've just picked up my ticket
and there's a note inside from the issuing agent(Goa Way)which reads:IMPORTANT NOTICE The Indian Civil Aviation Authority has introduced strict rules for people using Dormhouse flights only. It is Imperative to complete the immigration form handed to you in the aircraft. Under the address section you must give complete details of your stay, be it with friends or registered accommodation. To avoid complication do not use the word Dormhouse but rather Calangute Mahal (that's my prepaid voucher) in case you are getting your accommodation on arrival. This must be what we were hearing earlier about possible restrictions on people entering on charters. They don't actually say what these strict rules are though. I managed to book accommodation so I'm hoping I'll be OK. Good luck ![]() |
