However, it's not India house is it???!!

Throwing yet more hearsay into the mix isn't really very useful.

And this thread is about obtaining an Indian visa through VFS in the UK.

My friend has not got a computer but his daughter has, but she has not got a printer. She has downloaded the visa form and printed it off at her work,he wants to fill it in by hand and post it. But the visa form to me looks like the old visa form .Do they still except those and hand filled forms ? Please .

Just my feeling, but I doubt very much that an employment visa application would be dealt with by post.

visa application confused !!!!!

Hi to you all,

I have just experienced the on line application process.
Not too bad considering what I have read here. Now comes the problem.

I want a tourist visa for 5 years and as i read the visa charges i assumed it would be £90-00 plus commisions.

i was surprised to find it came out at £142-70.

Have I made a mistake. I recall pressing the button for "long term visa" as opposed to "more than 1 year tourist visa". is that the problem. I have a web reference no but don't want to press the continue button till I know if I have done it correctly.
can I just drop out and start again ? Its after 4 and I can't ring them up

any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi,unless you are of Indian origin you won't get more than a 6 month tourist visa (one year if you are lucky).

Are you a PIO?

If you are only an "Ordinary Brit", the only tourist visa you can get is the six month one. Unfortunately they do not say anything about this on their website.

Thanks for that,

I have re read it and your right, no mention of it. i suppose I will have to reapply every time I want to go, £30-00 each time. may work out the same.

Thanks once again

Dave.

If i will try for a longer period visa as a brit.
I know they may say no, but i want to try?.
I want to submit my contract for my flat in India, my Indian bankstatements, investments through my Indian bank, proof of tax paid ETC. I have the 5 year ex visa now (soon to expire), when and where do i submit all my paperwork?.
Has anyone tried this?.
Anyone have a phone number they will answer, at outsourcing?.
Thx.

Unless you have at least one Indian grandparent or are married to an Indian citizen you won't get any longer than 6 months on a tourist visa, and it can only be renewed outside India. If you are then they will give you a one year visa renewable inside India.

Some people do get five and ten year visas, but they all 'have a story to tell'.

Be very careful..

There are very strict rules about what people who are not Indian nationals can own in India. If you've been paying tax you can't have been on a tourist visa.

5 year x visa

No ive been on a 5 year x visa.
The only tax i pay, is on my Indian bank account,
and investments through the bank.
But i will use the fact im paying, any tax as part of my
arguement, for another 5 year.
I just want to know, who i must give my paperwork to.
Anything maybe possible.

Well as you're asking on the "Outsourcing in UK" thread, I have to assume you will be coming back to the UK to submit your application. In which case the application and associated paperwork must be submitted to the VFS office.

You will need a lot of luck to get a five year visa out of the UK VFS office though, they are all newly trained in the current rules, and I was categorically told by them that as a UK citizen the only people who could get anything other than a six month tourist visa are those with PIO cards.

Do post back and let us know how you got on...
