Can't help you with that airplane ticket. They didn't ask me for this though..

I applied for a one year student visa even though I only had permission to study for one semester (5-6 months). I also paid for a full year student visa but I got only one for 9 months!
Take a confirmation of your institution/school with you...
And yeah, it wasn't the embassy in Pakistan..

If your school doesn't need a student visa then take the tourist one. It would be easier to get a 6 months visa this way.

Err - You've not really picked the most friendly of countries to get an Indian visa. A frnd's dad worked at the Indian Embassy in Islamabad - they are very anal.

You should apply in Iran for visa if you are Iranian citizen

Well first some question. Are you Iranian citizen? In that case you should probably apply for any Indian visa in Tehran. Don't know where you got the idea from to apply in pakistan? Indian Consulate is very easy to reach from a metro station. (forgot the name)

Yes. Tourist visa's for iranian citizens are only for 3 months. So guess you need to apply for a student visa. Maybe they will give you a 6 months one, but I don't know. But I'm quite sure you cannot apply for a student visa outside of your home country.

Once I applied for Indian visa in tehran I saw that everyone needed to show a return ticket. As I'm a dutch citizen they didn't ask me for one. But every Iranian must.

Ok, in that case just get it in Tehran. they are quite nice there. i applied and got my visa in 4 days. Though I needed to show a letter from My embassy.

Just take the metro direction mirdamad (north) get off at shahid mofatteh or Shahid Bebeshti and walk around 10 minutes. ask people there, they will know.

one warning. Getting a visa for Pakistan in Iran for foreigners on tourist visa could be a real hassle! With 90% failure chance. Consulated of Pakistan in Iran are real crap.

When I did it in Islamabad(Oct. '05), I didn't need to show a plane ticket. It took 8 days, and was fairly routine and simple. If you've heard that it's changed since then, then you can try Tehran, although I when I went there, they needed a ltter of introduction from my embassy. It was too much hassle, so I just got it in Islamabad.

Really, I wouldn't worry too much, you'll get your visa one way or another........

I think I've posted this before, but anyway, it doesn't hurt to have it on this thread.

The Indian High Commission in Islamabad is located in the Diplomatic Enclave (near the Red Mosque! ;0).

When you get to the front entrance, you need to go around to the right, to the car-park. There, you can get your visa application form, drop off your bags, and buy your ticket for the bus that will bring you to the embassy.

You should do all this before 9am, as its a busy embassy, and the q's get lengthy....
