Indian Passport: Name spelling Issue

Hi,
Name spelling problem

1. Here are the spellings I have
Date of Birth - BALAMURUGAN (No space)
10th Mark List - BALA MURUGAN (space)
Higher Secondary - BALA MURUGAN
Bachelor of Computer Application - BALAMURUGAN
Master of Computer Application TC - BALAMURUGAN
Master of Computer Application - BALAMURUGAN

I have got the affidavit from the judiciary court stating all the above names belongs to the one and the same person to prove my name identity.

I m going to apply for the passport with the help of
Date of Birth
10the Mark List
Higher Secondary
TC

and after consulting with the travel agencies they have told that
BALAMURUGAN cud be made in the passport as it is in the Date of Birth certificate

My question is that having affidavit in hand will i get any problem when claiming the VISA on work permit on any of the countries since i m working in one of the software MNC company or when i search for the job opportunities in abroad.

Need your thoughts....

The US Embassy needs you to have a surname while applying for a visa, and the name on the visa application should match the name on the passport. They don't usually care about the name on the birth certificate, degree certificates, etc. I didn't have a surname on my passport; the whole of my name was in the Given Name field (which is actually appropriate, since my second name in not actually my surname), but I had to get the names separated and put an entry in the surname field before I applied for my latest visa (this seems to be a new rule, because the consulate has issued me visas previously).

Like you, the names on my passport and certificates do not match up, on most certificates, there are only initials, on one there is a slight mis-spelling (transliteration error), but never had any issues, and I did not even have an affidavit or anything.

Hi

Thanx for the reply,

I have mentioned the name in the first post.

As per the first post will the mismanipulation of space in my name or transliteration in my name will lead to any problem when applying during the VISA.

Need your thoughts

The name on the passport is only thing that matters to consulates. What College cert says might not.

Once you have your name in your passport, then all official or employment documents, both in India and abroad should follow.

I think it is your choice entirely how you choose to transliterate your name --- just you might consider how an English speaker (especially an American English speaker) might pronounce it.

You are welcome to our thoughts... but, to be honest, the thoughts of any one of your neighbours who share your mother tongue but have also been to USA would probably be more useful to you.

I would expect that, for instance, your business card will say N. Balamuragan, that you will be addressed as Mr Balamuragan, or less formally as 'Bala' --- not so different to here in India?

the passport has two names.
Given name and surnames.

these are family names and your names. if there is a GAP in any one name it does not matter - becaseu the important thing is the names should match. a space can be caused by a tying error, but all alphabets are there.

So in my opinion, there should not be any issue.

We are not lawyers.

You need an advocate, or an agent that deals with passport stuff.

This is one of those things where walking down your local street will get you further than the internet will!

Typo in First name

Hi,

My aunt (my wife's mom) is about to attend Visitors visa in U.S Embassy, on my wife's passport her name is written as 'VasantHa Kumari, XXXXXX', but on my aunt's passport it is written without 'H' at the end of first name, i.e 'Vasanta Kumari, XXX'.
Does anyone has an idea is it safe to attend the visa interview without any hazzles.

Please advice here...

Thanks,
Satish.

Letter mising in Given Name in Indian passport

I am ready to apply Visitors visa for my parents to US, I recently found out that in my fathers Given Name there is a letter missing.
His given name is "sarath babu" and the letter "h" is missing here and everything is fine. Is there going to be any problem? If so, please advice how to get rid of that?

Thanks in advance
