Thanks Nick, those are some extremely kind comments you have made, and they have brought a huge smile to my face.

Thanks, it's nice to see the effort has been worthwhile.

Missing in both list so far : -- Switzerland:

Details attached.

They are one of the very few embassies that issue one-year tourist visas if you ask nicely.

Superb, thanks for that

I've made an update and placed all essential info / standard application form here

Note that if you are making long term or non-standard applications, you should contact embassy staff directly for information.

Finally there are some jurisdictional restrictions to be aware of. They are listed at the link above and on the embassy website.

Glad it helped you Nick, and thanks for the feedback. Given how bureaucratic India can be, I think it's important to make things easier for visitors, in whatever way possible.

there is needed a part 2

What about Part two made by Indiamike. Gathering experiences about every different indian consulate. In this way we can jugde how good they function and where to go for visa's.

It is by the way no real fixed rule that Business visas and other long term visa's MUST be obtainend in the home country. The only thing is that the consulate in your home country is involved with the issuance of such a visa.

Behavior behind the desk and behind the telex machine could be quite different even from one consulate.

That is certainly part of the purpose of this section of the forum, and it is probably better to have separate threads, as is the case now. For instance, a good Thailand update has been posted recently.

There's another thread here
