Or I have to go abroad to get my new visa? What's is the best bet? Nepal, Pakistan , Buthan, Maldivas, or Bankoc ? You must apply outside India for a visa. Nepal or Bangkok are probably the best places to do this. It can take 7 or more business days, as the Indian consulate will wire your home country tto get particulars about you.

Nepal would seem to be the cheapest option.
Train 7244 departs Kakinada Port daily at 15:30 and gets to Vijayawada at 21:20. Train 5221 departs Vijayawada on Saturdays at 06:35 and gets to Gorakhpur 36 hours later at 18:30. It should be easy to get to Katmandu from Gorakhpur. |

Your situation is one which I think we have not seen before.
You are arriving in India with an out of date visa but you have have been told you will get a transit visa to travel to Mumbai from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. If this is a normal transit visa it will be for 72 hours duration. You then wish to apply for another tourist visa in a country outside India because generally it's usually not possible to have two consecutive tourist visas. Nepal has been suggested. But when you apply in Nepal your passport will be showing a tourist visa and a transit visa. I don't think anyone can guarantee you that the Indian Embassy in Nepal will issue you with another tourist visa because strictly speaking most people are only entitled to one 6 month visa in a year. You may be lucky and be issued with one but it would be wise to have alternative travel plans ready if this doesn't happen. I, for one, would be interested to know how things work out for you so please post back on the forum. The information could be useful for other members. Good luck! |

Thanks fot the suppoer on the issue.
I'm stll pretty lost and time just goes by with out figure it it out... Too nervus about it. I guess Anyway Since is possible to have a 6 months visa in a years, my Visa don't know for what reason was a 3 months visa. and as you know had expired. The other issue right now is getting an open flight ticket from the company...since they going to provoide a transit visa for all of us.And I don't have a Tourist visa, I have to choosee a date I guess, Don't know good for how long is the transit Visa ( 15 days?) I thought is I buy an e-ticket flight out Mumbay to Dangkoc and show then That I gonna leave the contry to get the visa....and then come back with a new one maybe another 3 months. by thetime the transit visa going to be already expired. ehen I apply for a new one in BKK. Any ideia if it colud work??? Thanks Again i really apreciate ![]() |

This becomes more and more complicated
Yes, sometimes 3 month tourist visas are issued as in your case, so I would guess you have a better chance of being issued with another 3 month visa. The normal transit visa is issued with a 15 day validity but you have to be in and out of the country in 72 hours. Because your situation is unusual the immigration authorities at the port may issue you some kind of special transit visa. See if you can find our what kind of visa it will be. Again I don't think anyone can absolutely guarantee that if you fly to Bangkok that you will be given another visa. If your company is prepared to pay for a flight ticket you could travel by land to Nepal, try there for a new visa and if refused fly from there to Bangkok. At least this would give you 2 chances. There is no problem getting a Nepalese visa - you just pay at the border crossing, or if arriving by air, at Kathmandu Airport. |

the company replay
here is what the company said; when asked to give an open air ticket to get back home....
"Unfortunately, because you are entering without a visa, we will need a definite date and destination on your ticket for you to be able to get a travel permit. Leaving it open will not give any indication of when you are leaving and a travel permit may be refused because of this." So with this I tought if I buy a ticket from Mumbay to Bangkok or Nepal it may work, since they wii not pay for my flight over there or to nepal either...I sort of have to figure it out ASP since we are a week from Kakinada port. in India... Rightnow we are passing by Colombo in Sri Lanka and won't stop there at all. Anyone have another idea on this issue ??? I really apreciate all the support on this. ![]() |

since you are on a rig/ship, which is an exceptional case and only had a 3 months visa, according to my information (from Indians) you should be able to get an extension of your tourist visa in india. since you will get a transit visa you could travel on base of that to a major indian city (for example Chennai or Kolkata) and try to get your visa extended there. I think the best way to get yourself properly informed is to contact the brasilian embassy in New Delhi, explain them your problem, and ask them to inform you to which indian institution you should best go to get your tourist visa extended before your transit visa expires. Here is the contact data of the brasilian embassy :
Brazilian Embassy 8, Aurangzeb Road New Delhi – 110011 India Tel: (91 11) 301 7301 Fax: (91 11) 379 3684 E-mail: brasindi@vsnl.com |

Just got the answer from the Brasilian embassy and they said is very hard to get a visa once in India...worst to try speaking with the immigration office once on board...let's see...
Also today after explain the situation to the captain of the vessel/rig he said that we are not India yet only after get clear from the immigration, we are in Panana since our vessel hava a Panamenan licence, so I will be applying for a visa like I was in Panana...and offer some extra money for then as well... Let you all know what going to happen tomorrow when the immigrations officer arrive on board. Thanks for all the support and regards to all. Guto Depieri ![]() |

Hello all
Yestarday the immigration offices were on board and is amasing how they were working to get the ship clear they went to the food dry store and took all the want since 200 soap bars, towels, boots, coverall, etc.... And when my turn come to get the transit visa and explain then that my Visa had expired on transit from Brasil and after 65 days on the vessel, they ask right away that would cost some $$$ After ask how much they ask for $ 500 I said no way is way too much so we deal on 300 US for an extension on my visa. They took the money and the passport to onshore like everybody else passports 140 total. And only after I got on shore going to find out if I got or not ! That's how gambling goes I guess, If get on shore and didn't get the visa who I gonna complain to??? Let you You if I got it ASP. Regards GutoDepieri ![]() |
