Immediate tourist visa after Entry visa
Immediate tourist visa after Entry visa
Hi all,
I am currently doing a short course in India and was given a six-month X-Entry visa which expires in early November. I wish to stay in India until that time, leave, apply for a tourist visa in Bangkok and return to India (as a tourist) in late November. My question is the following: Do I have to leave two months before I wish to return, ie. in late September, in order abide by the two-month-out tourist visa rule? or are previous Entry visas exempt from this rule? I am under the impression that the two-month rule only applies to consecutive tourist visas, but I really need to be sure about this. Any information in this regard would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance!

You're correct. It only applies to Tourist visas. You might get less than 6 months in Thailand.

Your impression is right. Two month rule applies ONLY to Tourist Visa's.
I am in a similar situation, except that my Student visa runs out in October. I am hoping to make just a quick visa run -- maybe a weekend in Nepal -- then re-enter on the 10 year tourist visa I already hold without going home (US).
I'd feel a lot more comfortable leaving the country if I had written confirmation that I could get back in without waiting 2 months.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an official clarification on this? Preferably that I can print out and carry with me? Or who would you suggest meeting with and getting a letter from? FRRO? (note: because my studies were just a summer program (<180 days), I did not initially register with FRRO either)
Thanks!

Reading your post it appears you have two visas?
This should not be possible as granting of subsequent visa (student?) would have cancelled to preceeding (10 year tourist) visa.

Hm, ok, thanks for bringing that to my attention, johnny five. There was no indication anywhere on my old visa that it had been cancelled, but you seem to be right that this is the policy.
But that leaves me in the same spot as before, just needing the extra step of also obtaining a new tourist visa. ...Does anyone have in writing that the policy only applies to two consecutive tourist trips? Everything I've looked at seems to leave this point ambiguous...
