The chap I use charges a tenner. Anymore than that is a bit steep, and is indicative of an operation that doesn't make regular runs. You should avoid these, as they may not have arrangements in place with the embassy to do bulk applications (the good ones do).

Of course, it's only useful if you're near an Indian-run travel agent, otherwise you will be better off with a postal or personal application.

Hi,

It's not a company, it's a free resource. Been working on it for some time, I felt there was a gap in quality information regarding Indian Visas. Either sites were confusing to navigate, and/or lacking in up-to-date info.

So I update it every 3 months with info from pretty much every Indian embassy around the world. Some I can't get info on, but I've 90 or so countries covered.

Goangoangone,

Wow, I'm flabbergasted. I don't know what, if any site you visited, but it certainly wasn't anything to do with me. My site does not have popups, banner, or even google ads on it!

Mine is a totally free, extremely pertinent, easy-to-use site and is the result of very hard, unpaid work. I find it hurtful that you would dismiss it so aggressively and use vocabulary that provides a totally inaccurate description.

If I can find which link I hit, I'll have another look. Seems like I was maybe misdirected. If everyone else is I take it all back. ....with apologies, of course.

I clicked the London download link...

On 6th March I posted 2 passports and visa applications to London and received one back on 14th March - BUT not the other!! Now I need to get in touch with them but the only phone number is a recorded message - 0207 240 1012. Does anyone have a phone number for the visa department? Should I go there is person?
Thanks

HCI London received my PIO Card application before noon on 26th January 2006 by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

They say on their web site that the process can take one to eight weeks (or sometimes longer) so I waited eight weeks before telephoning to check on its progress.

I have proof of delivery, but they say they can't find my application.

It contains my original passport, my grandmother's original passport, my original birth certificate, my grandmother's original certified copy birth certificate, an original letter from the British High Commission in Chennai confirming my Indian origin, my great great grandparents' marriage certificate, a banker's draft for £215.00, etc.

What now?

Errrrm As you have been advising people in this threadnot to use the postal service - why on earth did you ??????

However, that doesn't solve your problem, and I'm not able to offer any advice, sorry. A personal visit and a demand to see the senior person in charge seems appropriate here. If you have definitely got Royal Mail proof of delivery then it seems it might just be lost 'in the system' and there is hope of it being found.

I'll cross my fingers for you.

Wow what a major bummer John, that represents a lot of work on your part with more to follow if they don't find it!!

I don't know about the HCI London but the embassy in The Hague is a mess, big bundles of passports and applications lying around on floors even more piled on desks. I often worry about leaving my stuff there just overnight!!

...
I only had problems with Edinburgh and Birmingham!

It is a six hour journey to London, so it is not easy for me to get there to queue outside the HCI at 8:00am.

Reading the advice from other India Mikers, I saw no reason why I shouldn't use the postal service for the HCI London, especially as I was not in a hurry.

I hope Mr. Cyberhippie is correct and it will turn up in a pile of paperwork...

What now?
I presume you have 'jeroxes'(photocopies) of the said original documents? If not, time to take your Blood Pressure meds and start yelling at

a) Royal mail
b) IHC
