help on visa issue please?

I have a tourist visa in my Passport now that runs out on March 20th 2006.

However, I am back in the UK now and I will be going through MUMBAI in transit to Columbo in April.

Do I need to get a new tourist visa? or do I not need a visa at all if you DONT leave the airport?.... any help would be appreciated.

Touist visas are mutliple entry--you can come and go as much as you want within the window of their validity.

But if you are just changing planes, and not leaving the airport, you probably don't need a visa at all--but you should ask your airline if a transit visa is necessary.

the only time I have had to have a transit visa was in bahrain, it was simply handed to me when I left the aircraft and collected when boarding again.
However I don't know if this is th same at all airports

ask your travel agent or the indian high commission.in some cases the transit visas have been imposed even if one is transiting at the airport.i think this is the case with nigerians, sri lankans and some more in britain.i`m not sure about the indian citizens.
as you know these condtions are mostly reciprocal,so other side will apply the same rules.
