Help needed...Embarkation card

does anyone have a copy of the Embarkation card?

here is the story, I have been working in Bangalore for the past two and half years. Now my mum has finally decided to come and visit this colorful country. She has just got her visa this afternoon.

Well, now the problem is, my mum is a Chinese (just like me), she does not speak English, does not understand English, does not write English...AT ALL.

She will be flying from Hongkong via Bangkok to Bangalore. I prepared most conversational and emergency sentences in both english and chinese, which she will print and carry with her during the journey.

The only thing i want is the Embarkation card, the one u fill out while entering India custom. I want to get an exact copy and fill the same, so she only needs to copy whatever is there.

Anyone?

Or u guys think it is possible to bribe the airport security and ask them to get me a copy?

Thanks!

PS: I searched online and got this link, http://police.and.nic.in/emcard.htm. however as I remember, at the bottom of the card there is an extra section regarding baggage.

I am sure there are many travellers just like your mom who would be travelling in India. There should be some way out. They might help fill the form if she dosent know english.

How's about simply asking them for beginnings? What's with this idea that one needs to bribe one's way through everything there? As you added, the basic form is apparently online anyway. Maybe drop a line to http://www.airportsindia.org.in/ (open during business hours) and see if they can help you. http://meaindia.nic.in/ or http://mha.gov.in/ also spring to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if you could just pick up a paper copy at your local airport yourself, there's hardly anything surreptitious about it, nor any way to abuse it that I can think of.

Other than that, I'd agree there'll be more passengers like her. I've sat on flights with traditionally-clad Rajasthani farmers bound for Britain who didn't speak a word of English and who I wondered if they realized we were airborne at all.

Thanks, Iloveindia 1234 and Machadinha.

I will try my luck at the bangalore airport.

To Macha: as to the "bribe" issue, I extended my visa 3 times since my arrival here, everytime when the commissioner officer called me for collection, he would say "bring ur passport and my money", the local police asked for money when i went for verification, and the traffic police does the same for no reason. so now whenever it concerns any government body, it is just natural for me to think like this. No offense.

Yes, I understand, a natural suspicion on your part will arise. But I'd think getting this document is of a more innocent nature... I may be wrong.

In any case, good luck with it. Let us know how you fare.

Go to the airport and ask someone who is checking in to collect a couple of spare forms for you and bring them. Or, even explain to one of the security guys and ask if he can pass you one.

Might take a bit of perseverance, but I bet you'll get one!

I suspect the flight attendants will be able to help your mother fill out the embarkation card.

... this is the one that has to be filled in before passing through emigration at the airport, WWUSA, not the one you fill in on arrival at the airport.

I do think that some help will be available in the airport building, though.

It used to be a two-part form, so that you got given both on arrival, but now it seems to be two separate pages.

<LATER>

Oh! My mistake: this is on the plane, not at the airport going back.

I think they call that a dis-embarkation card!!!

Fa

Most flight attendants are willing to assist in filling up the form. You could tell your mom to have a paper with basic info along with passport no: etc. written down so that a neighboring pax or an FA can easily copy into the card.

Oh! I just re-read the OP, and this is talking about on the plane! My mistake.

Neighbouring passengers are usually willing to help. I've been asked to once or twice --- although it would be had for a person who spoke no English to ask me.

Hey....guys....Just back from Bangalore Airport!

As it turned out, the airport staff are helpful. I went to Airport Terminal Manager for help. He said yes with no hesitation. But unfortunately, he got me the Departure card instead of Arrival card. Then he was just too busy to deal with phone calls and other stuff. Another airport officer happened to be in the office offered help voluntarily, he took me to the arrival gate and got me the arrival card.

Thanks all !! I will scan both cards 2moro and put them here...Just in case someone might also need.
