Help! Applying for a 2nd tourist visa for India in Japan
Hi everyone,
I really need some help since I am currently in India and my visa expires soon. I am planning to go to Japan and re-apply for a tourist visa to come back to India afterwards. I know it is a rare thing to do, usually people go to Nepal or Bangladesh to do this but I need to go to Japan so I was wondering if anyone knew about the procedure? Do you think it is possible to do so? I got my first indian tourist visa from Europe. Thanks a lot!!!! |

You can, as far as I know (I am not a professional) apply for your visa anywhere there is an Indian Embassy.
Do remember that, as it is not your own country, you will have to wait some days, at least, while they refer the application to your own country. My guess is that at least you will not be under any suspicion of having nipped over the border just to get a new visa. I don't know how popular Bangladesh is as visa destination: the usuals, I gather, are Nepal and Sri Lanka.

It is possible. The Indo taishikan (Indian Embassy) is close to Kudanshita, Tokyo (that place is great for Hanami/beer drinking under Sakura trees) and the Yasukuni shrine.
Chances are it will not take more than a day. If I were you, my bigger worry (if returning to Japan) would be the multi entry permit (which is an add on to the Japan visa because the visa alone is a single entry). My two yen. Au revoir/Mata ne.

Thank you!
I was wondering if there could be a rule such as "only one tourist visa per year" or something... I really hope I will be able to get a new visa, I don't want to be stuck with all my belongings staying in India! I'll wait for more feedback from IMers... |

Hi
I have been looking into this myself as I have a small dilemma - to apply for a new Indian visa in Bangkok or Tokyo. I have looked at various websites about applying for the Indian tourist visa in Tokyo and on some it sounds like an easy process, but on others it clearly states that you can only apply for the visa in Japan if you can "submit proof of long-term (at least three years) or permanent residence in Japan!" See http://www.visas4india.com/japan-tokyo.htm (point 4 at the bottom of the page) What makes me confused is that if you look at the Indian Visa Application Website it does not mention the proof of long term residence http://www.indianvisaatjapan.co.jp/index.jsp?c=l15 The same goes for the Indian Embassy website itself http://www.embassyofindiajapan.org/ My problem is that I arrive in Thailand on a 2 month visa fresh off the plane from India and will not return to India again for 3 months. I intend to spend the two months on the islands and really dont want to have to commute back and forth to Bangkok for the sake of the visa and it is my 30th birthday at the end of the two months so I dont want to be in Bangkok during that time, which leaves the start of the two months. Then, however I will be fresh off the plane from India and maybe will only be given a 3 month visa which will be no use to me! If I can apply for the visa in Japan it solves all of my worries as even if they only issue me with a 3 month visa that will be sufficient for my second trip to India. Does anyone know anything for definite about Japan?! Help would be much appreciated In the meantime Ill email the visa application center in Japan and see what they say, assuming that they reply! Thanks & regards, Steve |
