HEeelp transferring UK PR status to new passport

Hi, I require some advice. My father holds an Indian passport and he has a permanent residency stamp for the U.K in his passport. He has had this stamp in his passport for over 30 years as he is married to my mother who is a British National. He has recently renewed his passport and wishes to transfer the indefinite visa for U.K. from his expired passport to his renewed passport. The problem is we are not sure where he can get this done as he travelled to the British High Commissioners office in Mumbai and they said they do not provide that service so he was sent to the VFS office, they also said the same thing. He has never has this problem before when he has renewed his passport.

I have also rang the VFS enquiry line but nobody ever picks up the phone.

Can you provide me with some information.

Hello Ashdease, welcome to IndiaMike.

Moderator Note: I'm changing the title of this thread to make it a bit clearer what you're asking about. That way, if anyone has experience of this, it might attract their attention

Apart from suggesting the British Home Office in Croydon --- how about Delhi. I think they are the only Brit High Commision in India that will renew pasports, so maybe they can fulfil this consular service.

Just random thinking, I'm sorry, I haven't a clue really...

I'm not sure about this one, but in many cases you can carry two passports--the expired one with the residency stamp and the new one that is valid. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, then carry both documents.
