Given name vs Surname

Dear Sir,

I’m gonna apply for my passport in the next few days and am having trouble in sorting out my name in the passport application form.

My official name is Shivguru.A.G.E. (Initials expanded : A-Native, G-Grand father’s name and E-Father’s name) and all my documents have it like that.

Now I don't want my original name to get lost amidst the lengthy initials, So is it ok if i enter my father’s name alone as surname excluding other two initials and my name as given name?

or

Should i expand all the three initials for my surname?, your advice on this would be of much help. Thank you.

yes, this is a 'problem' most malayalees have -
since there are a whole lot of initials involved, and no 'surname'.

i know folks who have dropped them initials and added their fathers name as the surname.
am guessing here... its ok, if omitting them initials do not have any bearing on 'legal' documents later on...
best to consult a lawyer and find out inhispath.

You need to submit quite a few documents along with your application for passport, your name figuring in those documents should match.
