Getting a longer than 6 month visa for India?

I have a contact in a FRO office that will register me provided I have a long visa, they are not too worried about the details, more concerned about the Rupees, the usual way of getting things done in India. Visas have two different understangs, one is when you get it, the second is when you are registering it, far more lax in the second. Unfortunately we cannot give Rupees to the first mentioned. I think this makes sense.

PS: On the off-chance that u are in a receptive frame of mind - if u HAVE an X-visa, the FRRO will register it, as mairangi correctly states. Without bribes. They won't bother about it's origins. If u still want to bribe them anyway, then u have a problem, I mildly suggest. Of intellect.
