Exit permit leaving India
I am on an employment visa but need to be out of country to visit a friend in France & be back in one week. Do i need an exit permit?.if so what are the documents required. I was told i will need to get a letter from the employer as well along with a letter from my friend in France to present it to FRRO here in Hyderabad. The only problem is that i am going to meet my friend to explore some business opportunities before coming back and not comfortable disclosing this to my employer. Any way i can avoid this and still leave the country without any hassles?
Any experiences or feedback is welcome Last edited by machadinha : Feb 11th, 2008 at 15:56. Reason: merged threads |

Is your visa multiple entry? My understanding was that you only needed to inform the frro on your final departure or if you are going to be away for more than a month

Yes it is a multiple entry. I called the local police station where i originally registered to find out the exit requirements. The inspector of police handling the Foreign RP in fact has requested me to see him on Monday with the papers where he said will stamp my paper which i am believing is the residence permit. Hope he is not trying to cash in

Hi Pnooguri,
I have been on multiple entry employment visa for two years, and spent several holidays back home, each time for over one month. Never applied exit permit and had no problem when leaving or reentering india. my understanding of exit permit is that you apply for this when you are not going to come back to india. As long as you will be back in india again, i dont see a need for exit permit. |

How would they know you weren't coming back?
OK, you're supposed to hand over the RC/RP...

The only detail I recall on a different visa was a tax certificate when finally leaving India..

Best take a look at the website for Germany or France and see if you have to have a visa - I don't know which nationality you are, but EU citizens don't need visa's for those EU countries any longer. I think any visa for different countries wil take a few days, as they do have to fax back to your country of origin for details or whatever....best check quick! BEst of luck to you :-)

Off the top of my head for most registered Visas, it is 6 weeks away before you have to inform your FRO people. I'm not sure about employment Visa. You can inform them by sending a registered or couriered letter which I have done in the past when the office was in Jaipur. Now that it is in Jaisalmer I give my letter detailing dates of exit and expected date of entry to one of my nephews to hand in. I never go there myself because this is when 'made up' rules come in and baksheesh is hovering in the air. In all my comings and goings I have never handed in my residential permit or registration certificates. And they have not been asked for either at the airport or locally. Not even photocopies. They are very handy for proof of residence or identity from time to time e.g. the RTO believe me that I have been here for so many years because I have all my Residential Permits there to show them.
