entry X processing time
entry X processing time
hey all,
iam australian citizen married to indian citizen for 3months now, and i applied for conversion from tourist to entry X visa end of march at bangalore. On the same day they gave me a stamped letter saying it was getting processed, and so iam allowed to stay in india with it. But my husband is now going to italy for some work for about 2 months and i want to be with him, but im not allowed to leave india and come back unless i reapply in australia.
So my question is does anyone know how long the process takes in my home country australia to get the entry X visa?? because in india it can take up to a year they say, and if thats the same in australia, i dont want to be waiting in australia for it for so long.
thank you

Hi red fairy, you can request an exit visa/permit which will allow you to leave India. To come back you'll need a new visa, either X or tourist.
Or there's something called a Return Visa, which could allow you to leave India for a specified period of time and then return and continue the process from where you left off.
The best way to find out is to go inquire at the FRRO. Could you report back and let us know what you were told? This could help others who find themselves in the same situation. All the best!
