Employement visa using my US passport in UK

Hey all

I'm a dual national(2 passports) US/UK.

I've got a job in India and I'd like to know if I could apply for an employment visa using my US passport in UK? Ofcourse I'll be submitting my UK passport as well but it has expired.

Also, when I entered UK in May '08, I entered on my US passport so it does have a '6-month permit' seal!
