Double Entry X Visa

Hi, since marrying my wife who is an Indian Citizen I then was informed that since I am an Australian Citizen I have to wait one year before I can apply for a PIO.

So, I was told to apply for Multiple X visa, which is what I did.

I was given the X Visa today, but was told that X Visa and Multiple X visas are not the same thing - and that they can't give me Multiple X Visas right now.

So, what exactly IS a double Entry X Visa. Does that mean I can leave and come back once - or twice? Also, since I came on the original six month tourist Visa - which has now been converted to X Visa... technically I have already "entered" the country once (meaning before I even got married. I haven't left yet). Does that mean that one entry out of the two is already used up?

Am confused and unable to find anything useful online.

One other thing, would you happen to know the charges for these Visas?

For the double entry x visa I was charged roughly 3200 Rs, and for the 3 month extension I was given before that I was charged 2200 Rs. I have been unable to verify if these charges are standard.

Appreciate the help.
