Nope.

If the details you have given are correct, you don't need to do a thing. Do take your registration papers to the airport if you have been in India for more than 180 days though. IF they do check your length of stay, without proof they're likely to treat you as if you haven't registered and will probably prevent you from leaving the country until they see proof that you have.

Exit permits are only needed for people without visas, eg foreign babies born in India, people who have overstayed their visa etc.

last year I was on an 'X' visa plus a Residential Permit (>180 days) and I got an exit - re-entry permission endorsed on the RP when I had to visit the UK for a few days (the FRO reminded me NOT to give uo the RP at the airport).
What does it say on the back of your RP?

If leaving India for a short period, no you don't need an exit visa, and no you don't need to hand in your residential permit.

from the front page of my RP:
Quote:
You are hereby informed that whenever you want to leave India, you should obtain departure from this Office only where you are registered and neither from the Authorities at the port of actual exit nor from any other Registration Officers in India.
You should intimate this Office your intended date of departure one week in advance to enable this Office to complete the formalities.
I agree there is confusion here - some official documents distinguish between 'leaving' and 'finally leaving', but this form doesn't.
I can only repeat that I was given an endorsement on the RP for exit/ re-entry.
