Yep, that is right some hard currency, pounds sterling, etc. Have heard of one case where overland they accepted Rupees. Make a deal with another traveler. Would be a shame to rest one's hopes on one instance..

Updating a bit the visa is 40 USD or the equivalent in a hard currency like Euros but note the change problem. No INR generally are accepted although you can use these in Nepal in cities.
As above no train except up to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, India. Then the long but beautiful bus up. Lots of people get Indian visas in Nepal. Its when people go for the multiple reups out of home country that they crack down. So far as I have heard that means they give 3 months instead of 6 for example.. |
