conversion of visa in Bangalore
Hi guys
I'm currently living in Bangalore, i'm married to an Indian lady, i'm here on a 6 months tourist visa and I am trying to find out how to convert my visa to an X entry visa. I read somewhere that I need to go to the police commissioner to get this done, but am confused by it all. Has anyone converted their visa in Bangalore? TIA |

Im pretty sure you cant convert a tourist visa into another type. I may be wrong about x visas, but it is certainly true for conversion to business/employment visas

You can convert a tourist visa to an X visa in the case of having married an Indian citizen and intending to live here.
Having said that, I had nothing but trouble (partly caused by a bull-shitting agent; it is not worth using an agent) trying to do so, whereas it took 10 minutes to be issued an X visa in London on the basis of marriage certificate and my wife's passport.

You can change tourist visa into x-visa but when i applied in Delhi they told me not to leave India during the procedure.
Also bring your marriage certificate copies (don't leave the original), passport copies and plenty of passfotos and last but not least your lady... |

X-entry visa help
Hi guys sorry to cross post, i've been to the commissioner of police in Bangalore regarding conversion of tourist visa to x-visa on the grounds of now being married to an Indian lady. They told me to go to Delhi as the process would be quicker there (apparantly 1 day as opposed to 4-5 months from Bangalore) I have rung the MHA at Delhi they say bring xerox copies of marriage certificate, both mine and my wifes passport, visa page from passport and passport photographs of myself. What else would be recommended to take with me. They also say that they will give me a permission letter they will not change the visa, I need to go again to the commissioner of police in Bangalore to get the visa converted but no one will tell me the cost of this, does anyone know what this may cost? Also my wife cannot get leave from the office would this present a problem when I go to Delhi? I an already stressed out with all this red tape but at the moment it will be a problem for me to go back to the UK, so Delhi is my only option. Please please if anyone can help, please do so, I would be extremely grateful to get it explained to me other than the half cocked Indian way!
TIA |

Mariage photos.
Helps a lot to establish that this is not just a paper marriage. If you can at all, I'd take your wife with you. Might be a waste of her office holiday time, but might also help. Oh... take all the originals of the above documents as well! They are quite likely to need to see them; they will sign the copies 'originals seen' and probably ask you to sign that they have returned those to you. |

If you have never been to a desert, you should prepare for such an experience (I was in Delhi a few weeks ago when it was 42C, which was unbelievably hot. It now hovers around 46C). |

Siri, did you leave some boxes with harrys? Could they be going off? Are you coming home?
Else what could this mean? |

Oooh... I'm not going to be able to leave my computer now until harrys comes back and clarifies that somewhat cryptic first post.
