There are 11 nationalities given VOA. But, the last time I attempted to remember the nations I could only come up with 10 of them..

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.

Note, only 30 days, not the standard 3 months, and the usual rules apply - single entry, and 2 months out of India between visas.

Hey guys! Hoping you can answer a question for me, actually for a friend.

So say I've got a 3 month SINGLE entry visa. Entered and exited India within a month into the visa. But now I want to re-enter India a month later for further traveling purposes.

Taking into consideration the 30 day re-application rule and the 2 month rule. When is the EARLIEST I can re-enter India?

Cheers guys!

You will need to, stay out of India for 2 months.

At the end of the visa life, and as long as it it is after thr 2 months out...!

You can apply for a new visa immediately, however because it is within a month if expiry, they will ask questions. This will lengthen the application process.

VI) If a foreign national applies for Tourist Visa frequently i.e. within one month of expiry of the previous Tourist Visa, the Indian Missions/Posts abroad should scrutinise the application thoroughly and refer such cases to MHA (Foreigners Division) for clearance before grant of fresh Tourist visa.

I am not sure how long this process will take. However if you apply after a month of expiry of visa, it will be processed at normal speed.

Just one tiny other question! I've been reading other threads, can't remember which, but someone said it is possible to reapply for a new visa even while the old one is still valid, in which case the old one is automatically cancelled.

If this is the case then can I simply wait one month before reapplying, thereby satisfying the 30 day rule and since I would be traveling in a neighbouring country and would like to return to India for further travels, it may be a possibility the 2 month rule will not apply?

I know this is really all hypothetical and it is ultimately up to the people in charge but any thoughts?

The 2 month rules always applies.

You can apply for a new T visa and ask for your current visa be cancelled if you have been out longer than 2 months at the time of applying.

Which of the answers in the post #2331 or #2330 were unclear

Mike either you have been caught by the 'expired web page still there' trap, or there are conflicting rules between the MHA and Immigration sites.
The latest MHA FAQ (dated 09/03/2011) don't have the para. VI you quote (i.e. no 30 day rule) - this has been true for some time BUT when I just went via the MHA main site to re-check this I found a new para. VI which I don't remember seeing before:

Quote:
VI. In emergent cases involving re-entry of persons of Indian origin on Tourist Visa within the 2-month period of their earlier departure from India, the FRROs/FROs may exercise their discretion in allowing such passengers to enter the country after being convinced of the genuiness of their visit.
wtf! what have FR[R]O's have to do with entry into the country???
Does anyone know when this appeared?
