CGI Birmingham Queues....last week or so?

Hello all,

First post here so hello to you all

I'm heading down to the CGI in Birmingham this week to pick up a tourist visa for use in a couple of months time (I go to Malaysia and Borneo a week on Saturday). I was just wondering if any one has been in the last week or so, or has heard any reports about the queues? I'm up for going down early but obviously I don't want to be there at some un-godly hour if I don't have to!

Thanks for your help!

Chris

I got my visa on 27th December in Birmingham. Arrived there at 10:50, was seen at 12:20, and got the passport back at 15:00.

They were saying they were short-staffed, but it still seemed to have gone by okay.

Thought I should update the thread. I went down to the CGI yesterday. Thought rather than risking anything that I would just get there early. Arrived from Leicester about 5.30am and was second in the queue, by about 7 clock that had risen to about 25-30. When the upper part of the commission was opened at 830 there was probably about 100 people or so in there. They started processing at 9.20 and I was out by 9.30, so very easy in that respect. Queuing was actually quite fun....well apart from the guy and his wife behind us who were 3rd in the queue, went up to the desk and he was told that his passport only had 2 weeks remaining!! His wife was not a happy bunny!

Anyway in the afternoon by 14.50 there was about 75 people waiting, when the doors opened up again at 3 the queue for the visa desk was all the way around the room...I was out at about 4.10.

I still thought they were only processing 50 people a day, but it seems this is now at about 200, there were people who arrived just before 10 who were seen the same day, about 12.30. So who could do it better than I did I suppose. But actually it was a nice morning and as always you meet some interesting people doing these things!

yup, same day mate. You give your documents in between 9.30-1230 (earlier you get there better chance you get), all 200 tickets had been given out by about 10.30 from what i could gather). Then you pick up the visa between 3 and 4.30.

Hello! Just in case anyones still looking to go to get their visa, heres my experience from monday 14th..I got there at 7am, there was a que of around 20 people, waited in the rain for 1/2hr then they let us into the foyer and we waited there till 9am-ish then we got a ticket and waited another 1/2hour or so then handed over the documents and had to go off for 5hrs and then came to collect at 3pm, i'd recommend getting there for 2.30ish to avoid waiting again!

so all in all not too bad!,

best of luck anyone who still needs to get theres!
