Can US citizen get a multiple exit/reentry 6 month visa

Can a U.S. citizen get a multiple exit/reentry visa for 6 months or longer for India? We have been to India twice and would like to spend more time there but leave and return without getting a new visa each time.

Why not Get a 10 Year Visa?

Yes. I have a 10 year multiple entry visa. It cost $150. You do not have to register if you are in India for less than 180 days. It is also a bargain, when you consider that the one year visa costs $85. Under the heading "Number of Entries" it states "M" for Multiple.

Just check the Indian Embassy website and all the information is there. I got mine from the consulate in Houston: http://www.cgihouston.org/newvisa.html.

Good Luck!

Wow, that 10yr multiple entry visa at $150 is a bargain compared to over here in Australia. We have to pay AUD 90 for 6 months visa and for a 5 year visa, its $255!!

crazy!

I was going to get one but me American passport expires later this year, so got a one year multiple in me Italian. THis was done in the Houston consulate in like 30 minutes. In Rome they actually denied me a visa last year as I had "just come back and did not need to go again" and was turned down by the consulate for a 6 month multiple entry..oh well.....actually that is what it is like for most people trying to get a visa to Italy, no rhyme or reason as to why you are denied, just at the mercy of the "statale" or civil servant behind the glass partition... (Is that like the film, Beyond the Green Door?)
