Can a foreigner live in India Indefinitely?

I am looking to start a company in the services space which will be incorporated in India. Having poured over visa information I still am looking for some clarification. Can I apply for a visa to start and operate a business while living in India full time. If not can you please explain what my second best option is?

You can live here as long as something qualifies you to. You need to investigate business and employment visas, as well as seeing the threads here that relate.

Remember: no visa, no stay ... and government policy can change radically. It has happened. Business is about risk assessment, and this is one of the risks you should consider.
