Being guest in a christian colony on tourist visa

I'm now in Chennai staying in the south Invited my some cristian colony. I like the people and I'll stay here for a while helping their charity organisation a bit.
Will I face trouble being there in a christian community without having a missionary visa? I'm here just to visit friends and I will do a little helping. Guess it shouldn't be a problem.

not likely, as long as you don't draw undue attention to yourself with some stoopid pubic theatrics. enjoy your stay!

i ask this as I heard that charity workers got refused when they applied for a tourist visa for voluntary work. They were telling the exact truth on the application form. Guess that is never a good idea.
