Australian applying for visa in UK

Hi all
Im currently living in Newcastle, flying into Mumbai 3rd November. Will I have to travel to London for Visa as I have an Aussie passport, and more importantly have I left it too late! cheers Oh by the way I have been living in UK for 2 years...Can I somehow bypass this extra form and get same day Visa if I go to London personally???

Hi brad_kelly, welcome to IM.

If you can show you are UK resident, then you can obtain the visa on the same day. Also, as a non-UK passport holder, you will need to provide evidence that you have been resident for 1 year. For further info, you can call the embassy on 020-7836-8484.

Otherwise you will have to pay an additional non-UK resident fee of £10. It will take around 5 working days to issue your visa in this scenario. Another alternative is to visit one of the other consulates, say the one in Birmingham. Alternatively, they also do visa surgeries, but they don't seem to have any available in Newcastle. If you opt to get it in person from Birmingham do arrive early. They give out two hundred tickets and issue only 700 visas a day. If you can get there for 8am you should be ok. The place opens at 9:30. After about 8:30 the queues start to build up.
