Perhaps that would not happen if they had to choose a start date when filling in the application form.Anyway, it's not rocket science. Flight tickets are only valid for ONE DAY and people manage to deal with that.*
*Okay, most people!

Thank you Nick!
And yes, everything would be SO much easier if we were already married. I've been trying to explain that for a while - but got to wait for the family's auspicious month etc etc! When in India and all.

Important news on visa outsourcing
Yes i got an e-mail back from the London outsourcing office.
You must make your application on line.
They will not accept hand written applications.
Thx

This post could more usefully have been added to the existing thread about visa outsourcing in the UK.

Just about everybody is going online or being forced to..
I think you would be shocked, how many mostly older people dont have internet access.

Yes. So doing.
I have a question about the form - the online application for a tourist visa asks for details of a sponsor (with a little asterisk next to it which usually means that you MUST answer that question). What should I put here?
Also it asks the question "Place Permitted". What information is required here? (It also asks about "restricted area" but I presume that this refers to places such as Sikkim?)

I also have a question, if i miss my appointment,
just turn up at the office with my copy of my downloaded application form, photos, money etc.
Will they take these over the counter, then proceed to get my visa??.
Please help

It's June 9th, 2008, and outsourcing of Indian visas began on 29th May. You have been screaming for help since then. What or who do you think we are? The Indian Government? Staff of VHS?
No, we are neither.
And yet you keep posting stuff expecting us to be able to help you with something that is new to everybody.
We can't.
It's new to us too.
Go do your own homework, find out --- and when you do, share the information with everyone else.
Until then, I suggest you're better off visiting one of their offices rather than sitting in front of a computer.
How can i visit one of there offices, or get any info
im in Goa, of course you wouldnt have known this, so dont
jump.

What an odd question to ask. Do you think it likely that you will miss your appointment, even after flying to London and staying in a hotel specifically to get your visa?
What would you do if you were overworked, had a long queue of people waiting to be dealt with and someone missed an appointment they had made? Fit them in, thereby inconveniencing everyone who had kept their appointment, or tell them to make another appointment?
Why not give them a call and ask them?

As you are already in Goa, it would be great if you could post information about your area, or contribute to threads asking questions about it.
That is the good thing about online communities, everyone has something they can offer. I have found that online communities are similar to those in real life, in that the more you contribute, the more you get out of them...
