Hello everyone, I have a quick question, I am flying tp Thailand via Bombay, with a stopover there for only a few hours, the entire flight is operated by the sam airlines- Jet Airways. Do I need a transit visa to India even if I don't intend to leave the airport? Travel agent said no, but High Comission of India recommended tourist visa as I will be coming back... Can somebody tell me how it looks in reality?

If you want to take the opportunity to leave the airport on your way back to do some sightseeing as you're already there, you will need a transit visa; more than three days and you'll need a tourist visa. |

Got my 5 year x last year, tho its stamped 180 days, the FR office in Panjim will give you a new registration book, and take the 180 day ruling to 356,they still need to keep an eye on you, told me after that its a 2 year stamp.Actually a five day visa would do if I could offload my property in Goa.Good thing about India is that a plane ride to Thailand,Vietnam etc are just a few hours away.

Following on from that, a member on here posted information from one of the venues saying that the consular visits had been cancelled. At this point, it is pretty safe to say that they are not happening. |

This 5 year x visa, is almost the same as my last,
no stamp with 180 day stamp. The only diffence, is my last 5 year x, had regestration required within 14 days, this new 5 year x dosnt, but i think i will still need to register, to get my pink book, as before???. Thanks. |

Steve's use of it in this context is unfortunate, as his strange way of announcing/publicising his new visa. I have defended him from the personal abuse being heaped upon him over his refusal to describe in full detail how he obtained this visa, but to a certain extent regret this action. Whilst I do not think it is advisable, or desirable for him to give in great detail how he obtained this visa, I do not think his approach will help others in their pursuit of a 5 year visa. Having read several other posts related to this particular visa, it appears that, for their own reasons, the HCI has suddenly started issuing them to those who have existing ones expiring (only?), and that this person and the other one posting on here have merely benefitted from this change in procedure. In view of this, it is probably unhelpful to the membership at large to persist with this atmosphere of "mystique" as to why they were granted? |

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but am getting quite desperate. I'm applying for a tourist visa to go to india at the end of august. I am a German national, and they want proof that I have been living in the UK for longer than a year - either a stamp, a utility bill or a bank statement from a certain time. However I have none of these, as at the time I was a minor and had no bank statement / parents payed utility bills. I have sent off my application twice and had it returned, emailed vfs and rung several times, and no-one is giving any alternatives. Is there anything I can do? Would going in person to the application centre in London make a difference? I would be very very grateful for any suggestions! |
