No, as the website allowed me to pick a longer period, I tried for a longer than six months visa, but when I took my form in, they said I had to change it to six months.

Wasn't Haylo's reply sufficiently clear?
Steve - you've been begging for help on the forum for a month. What have you managed to find out about the visa process? Anything you can share with us? EDIT: The post to which this was a reply has now been removed. Last edited by Mickey S : Jun 30th, 2008 at 18:05. Reason: Now I know who deleted it! |

Stevebenaulim, what you mean by "mere mortal" is unclear as your profile states a location of Goa with no indication of nationality. If you mean British, the answer is six months. If you are already in Goa, surely you already have a visa? Feel free to keep asking the same question, if you want to hear a different answer. However, the only answer that matters is the one given to you by the people issuing the visa. Why not visit their office when you get back from Goa and ask them? I did. They told me the answer is six months. |

I think you'll find all the information you need - or, at least, everything that we collectively know - in the rest of this thread. I don't think anyone will be able to tell you exactly what will happen to your application, or how long it will take to be processed. But if you're leaving in 17 days then I'd suggest that waiting until next week to take the application to London may be cutting it fine and might cause you some anxious days. |

kathryn, as you might have gathered, this new outsourcing is very new. Previously, we had a body of experience here as to how long stuff like postal applications were taking, but with VFS, that's all reset to zero.
I've stood in the queue for the High Commission a good few times, but from now on I can no no longer advise anyone on getting tourist visas through VFS. That's why we're so keen for people to post their experiences here. All we can do at the moment is interpret the information on the web. I'm sure someone will help you with what fees they paid. |

If you wait until next week then you'll (probably) have lost 6 days. No-one will be able to give you a certain answer. |
