Applying for an Indian Tourist Visa in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Questions

Hello Guys,

I applied for an Indian tourist visa in KL on 27.10. since then there is no answer. I still need to wait for the clearance date. I start getting worried today after I called the visa application center to ask what's going on. They said it may takess up to 3 weeks. In the beginning they told me 5 working days. Monday was the Guru Nanak's Birthday so it was not working day but so far they are 7 working days without reply. I need to fly next Saturday.
I saw on the web site www.india-visa.com that in Singapore it takes maximum 3 days:
Quote:
All Singaporean nationals require a visa to travel to India, as do most other nationalities. This High Commission requires one working day to process your visa application if you are a Singaporean national or a bonafide resident of Singapore. However, if you are not a Singaporean national or a long-term resident of Singapore, a maximum period of three working days is required to process the case.
Does anyone applied for a tourist visa in Singapore and is that true? I'm thinking of going to Singapore tomorrow or on Monday and apply there as well! BTW, I m bulgarian.
My 2nd question is where do they send the application forms for a aproval and why does it takes so long to get an answer?

thanks!
miro

Miro, the 3 working days rule applies to long term residents in Singapore who do not hold a singaporean passport. You will not gain any advantage by going to SIN. Pay a visit in person to the KUL Visa processing center to get the actual status of your visa application.

Thanks nycank, I will go and ask them tomorrow. I 'm afraid they did send the application form to a wrong country. It happened to me already few times to ask Hungarian and Belgium authorities for visa issues!!!?!
I'm just not sure if they will tell me tomorrow even if they make a mistake. I need to know where do they send application for approval, so I can call them back in Bulgaria and ask if there is such application.

cheers,
miro

You applied for a visa to India. How can they send it to the wrong country ? Unless you went to a tout/shady operator/agent. You have to be more clear as to who you gave the application and passport to ?

They don't send the applications to India. They send them to the country of residence. In my case this is Bulgaria. I just called to Indian Embassy in Bulgaria. They don't have a telex with my case so far. As I said it happened before. The last time in Cambodia they sent the telex to Russia! Bulgarian passports are written in Cyrillic and with roman alphabet as well. Sometimes they don't see the Latin letters and can't even read the name of the country or my name!
Oh, at least now I know they didn't send it to Bulgaria, so I need to inform them tomorrow. and I found the answer of my second question. They do send your name and the passport number to the Indian mission in the country of residence of the applicant.
I submitted my application form in the only official Indian Visa Center here in Kuala Lumpur. It's a private company. The visa process here is outsourced. They don't collect passports until they receive a reference for clearance. They also collect 48 ringgits (10 euro) for processing your documents to the High Commission of India.
cheers,
miro
