Any Grace Period?

Hello,

I am a US citizen and have the 10 year tourist visa witht he standard 180 days maximum stay.

I am in India doing volunteer work for a charitable organization/NGO in South India. I am planning on leaving India and re-applying for the 1 year educational visa as I have been accepted into a registered educational institution in Coimbatore.

My due date to leave India is the 8th of Feb. I am needing to stay until about the 17th. I have heard that there is a 2-week grace period that is available for US citizens. Can anyone confirm this or refer me to someone or some agency that can confirm this question?

There is no grace period.

That would make it a 194-day permissible stay, which it isn't.

Am in Kolkata now, leaving for Bangkok tomorrow to change to an Educational visa.

As for the volunteering work. I am a resident at Isha Foundation in Coimbatore. This is the ashram home of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Some of you may have heard of him.

If anyone is interested in spirituality, this is the first and last stop. We do village rehab and environmental rejuvenation, both in South India. See the following to learn more. Sadhguru is doing talks and classes all over India. Do see about seeing an intoduction or attending a class. Schedules are on these sites or you can make contact from any of them...

You need to be student of a government-approved institution to get a student visa, and will documentation to show that you are.

If you've got all that, then great: let us know what happens
