An Increase in India Visa Fees for UK Nationals as of Jan 2013
An Increase in India Visa Fees for UK Nationals as of Jan 2013
The High Commission of India has revised the visa fee for Tourist Visa and Research Visa for all UK nationals with effect from17 January 2013. All applications submitted in person or sent by post should be as per the revised fee.
Please Note: All applications submitted in person or received by post on or after 17 January 2013 with the incorrect fee will be returned back to the applicants.
Date of Notice: 11 January 2013.
All the applicants are requested to include the service fee of £10.20 per application while organising their payments.
These figures only apply to UK passport holders it seems
Tourist Visa Up to six months .............................. £82 plus processing £10.20 £92. 20
Up to 2 Years (maximum stay of 180 days per visit) ........£277 plus processing £10.20 £287.20
(so that will be the cost of a 0ne year Tourist visa)
The Tourist Visa fee for UK National for more than 2 years and up to 5 years is £507
Applicants are required to include the VFS service fee of £10.20 to the Visa fee.
So a total of £517.20 if they actually offered a 5 year visa!
What a scoop for post #2500
The above information is a precis of that published on the UK VFS website today

That's a hefty increase! Almost double what it is currently. Sure to put a lot of tourists from going, another shot in the foot by India.

Sorry for 3 posts in a row, 1st post was shock, 2nd a feeble attempt at humor, 3rd post horror and reality check.
Indian Railways have just increased fares slightly, just like the visa fee, it was a sudden unexpected decision, however, I don't point this out to be informative, I point this out because anyone who purchased a rail ticket before the fare increase will have to pay the extra when they travel.
So, holders of an Indian visa who depart the UK after on or after Jan 17th, will they be charged the extra visa fee before they're allowed to board the plane?
Is this tit for tat? have the UK government changed any rules/prices for Indian nationals coming to the UK? (I know we've attempted to stiched-up their students lately)

That only refers to new applications, with no mention of visa holders travelling on or after 17th Jan. Cockup or Conspiracy???
The site is down as of now. - no it's up (and so are visa Fees!!!!!!)
This is Tesco pricing - the bigger the pack the more it costs per pound/pint)
Meldrew !!!
McEnrow !!!
and there was me believing they wanted to increase numbers of foreign tourists above 6 million (they were upset that Thailand gets ten times that number).

There is no such thing as art, the best is high craft - the rest is just flim-flam ©
They have got to be going to combine this with 30 day VOA - don't they?
otherwise it's almost worth a cheap flight to the USA:
US Citizens
Duration of Visa Consular Fee Service Fee Total Fee
10 Years (120 Months) Multiple Entry $153.00 $13.00 $166.00
5 Years (60 Months) Multiple Entry $153.00 $13.00 $166.00
6 Months Multiple Entry $63.00 $13.00 $76.00
Non-US Citizens
6 Months Multiple Entry $43.00 $13.00 $56.00

Just to add a little to the discussion....
Look on the bright side maybe we will be able to get a 5 year visa at minimal extra cost in comparison to loads of 6 month visas
The Tourist Visa fee for UK National for more than 2 years and up to 5 years is £507 Applicants are required to include the VFS service fee of £10.20 to the Visa fee. Plus postage
2 year visa - 1 application incl postage £299
5 year visa - 1 application incl postage £529
6 month visa for 2 years
4 applications x 40.20 = £160.80
4 return postage x 11.80 = 47.20
Total = £208 Increase of £91.00
6 month visas for 5 years
10 applications x 40.20 = £402.00
10 return postage x 11.80 =£118.00
Total = £520 Increase of £9.00 However far less hassle.....
The figures don't look as good when you work out the costs when applying for 12 month visas....

Well BHCI always insist there's no reciprocity but here are the fees for a UK visa from India:
Visit
Consulate rate of exchange:
GBP1.00 = INR90.00
Short-term (up to 6 months, single or multiple entry) 7050 General visitor
Longer-term (valid for up to 2 years) 24300 General visitor
Longer-term (valid for up to 5 years) 44650 General visitor
Longer-term (valid for up to 10 years) 64450 General visitor
(try converting at the current rate not the Consular rate)
Amazingly (!) this has been the topic of several letters in Heraldo in the last week.
