The majority of reports we hear are that it is far from easy. There are always exceptions.

Trivial reasons; leaving the country before your visa expires is your problem, why should they even listen? Same with the wedding (which you've got the invitation to, of course?) --- if you can't organise your trip, visa and flight, around an event you want to go to, then whose problem would that be?
It's not surprising these guys get hardened, having to listen to stuff like that. They almost get my sympathy!
