Address proof - Bank statement of IDBI

Hi All,

I have IDBI bank a/c from 2years, but i have not been making any transactions. Recently i have started using my IDBI a/c, say abt from past 2 months. Will this be taken for address proof for applying for new passport.

Thanks.
Nida,
Bangalore

Hi nida,

I do not think that their will be any problem. The account should be running and that is true in your case so it is a valid address proof.

You will have to provide bank statements for atleast last one year.

Here is a list of documents accepted as address proof (source:google )

1. Ration card
2. Driving license
3. Voter ID
4. Telephone bill landline or postpaid (1 bill for last year and 1 latest bill)
5. 1 year bank statement with bankers certificate photo attested by bank manager. If you are taking bank passbook issued by nationalised banks be sure to get sign and seal of bank manager in your passbook. Mere passbook printouts not accepted
6. Registered land deeds
7. Income tax assessment order with 3 year return acknowledgment showing address and IT dept stamp.

You should check the official site: www.passportindia.gov.in.

The documents required are mentioned there. Trust the source.

It does say that bank statement can be used for address proof, but my question is that i have not been making transactions in it and the a/c is active.

If its been used for the past 2 months and the account is 2 years old, then it should be acceptable.

If you have however started using it only recently (how recent, depends on the guy checking the docs), its might be accepted on discretion.

My advice, as far as possible, carry multiple docs for any proofs required.

Aadhar card are as of now are not acceptable and Government again started that drive from scratch and again taking biometric parametrs ( Irrespective whether they had issue you UID earlier) and all UID issued earlier will not be valid, as lots of immigrant got the UID.

Well they were one of the groups actually targeted for the card (it is Id & address proof, not citizenship proof).

from Wikifyindia (passports):

Quote:
Proof of address (Any one)

Applicant’s ration card, certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head with ID Card, water/telephone (only BSNL)/electricity bill, statement of running bank account, Income Tax Assessment Order, Election Commission ID card, Gas connection Bill, Spouse’s passport copy, Aadhaar card, parent’s passport copy in case of minors. The proof should demonstrate that the applicant is staying at the mentioned residence since one year or more, for example, the bank account statement would have to be of transactions of more than a year till date.

Proof of Identity (Any one)

PAN Card, Driving License, Voter's ID card, Aadhaar card, any other ID issued by government

@Narendra.d: It is true as we have received Aadhar cards for myself and my family member long back, But now again government initiated the step and only last Sunday again all details and biometric parameters are taken and now they are tallying with NPR ( National Population records) In the KYR form the one ID details is mandatory i.e. Voter ID card, PAN card, Passsport or Driving license and the person shall be register in NPR.
They only confirm that now all earlier issued Aadhar card will be scrapped.
For you kind information nationalised banks are not accepting UID as address proof, forget about the passport office

It is actually National Population Register, and it has nothing to do with AADHAR Card. Both would remain active simultaneously.

You may see the details here and here.
