3 months student visa; how can I renew it? Can I renew at the closest police station?

Dear Brothers/sisters,

I used to post a thread ask for help to obtain my visa in this forum, i gained lots of help, lots of people think i might not get my visa, but in the last day i left paris, me and my boyfriend together went to the indian embassy, the sameday, i waited for the whole day, in the end of the day, they gave me a 3months student visa, actually, they gave the wrong visa , an entry X visa, but i went back to the embassy and changed to the student visa, this is quite strange, first time i got a visa, and changed by the black pen.not so professional.anyway, i got the visa, after 4months and half,obtained a 3months student visa.i had quite a lot of problem when i waited for this visa, my french visa ran out, i dont know whether i can still come to uk to see my boyfriend, but, now, everything sorted, i obtained a 2years visting visa in UK even my french visa expired, i left France, and right now try to get ready for my next journey to India for my yoga study.
So this is the problem, i will go to attend the yoga training in bihar yoga bharati in bihar ,Munger.but this course will be finish in 1 Feb.2013. but my visa will be finish at 11,Dec.2012, the director of the embassy india told me i should go to the cloest police station Nearby the yoga school in munger, and i can renew my visa there, he told me as i arrived in india, and go to register in the police station first, and before the visa expire , i can renew in the police station till my course finish, but my after i read some documents in the home ministry affair office, seems we should go to new dedhi or calcutta to renew it, what's the different?is it possible for me to renew it in the closest police station and let me to stay till my course finish?is it possible for me to renew a new one year student visa if i want to contiune my yoga study in india after i finish bihar yoga bharati?i really have no idea what to do, because this ashram seems so far from any cities i can renw my visa, is it ok i go to the cloest police station as the embassy director told me to explain and ask them to renew it then i can continue my course?
seems quite a lot of questions, thank you so much if anyone knows any information about that, please kindly let me know.

The website advises that the local Superintendent of Police are registration officers for foreigners.
